How is everybody doing? Hope all is well and that you guys are having a good summer. This weather feels like I’m living back in England as it hasn’t been the warmest.
Had a tough game the other day against Houston. It was a game that we really wanted to win, but just didn’t have enough to come away with the 3 points. Have a friendly tomorrow against River Plate which is exciting because it’s always great to play against teams with different styles of football. More importantly we have a big game coming up against one of our biggest rivals…….The Columbus Crew. We’re also playing Marco Velez’s home country of Puerto Rico and we have to beat them home and away to get into the group stages of the champions league. I’m really excited and looking forward to these games.
On a sad note, Canada got knocked out of the Gold Cup. I felt bad for the guys because they worked so hard and for two Gold Cups in a row, they’ve been cheated. It just gets more and more frustrating with this Gold Cup for Canada. Thank goodness my little man Phoenix doesn’t understand certain words yet because it wasn’t nice what I was yelling at the t.v. when that penalty was called.
Totally off topic, I’m gonna let you guys in on a secret of mine. I’m secretly addicted to the Bachelorette. I know what you’re thinking but I don’t care because Monday nights my phone is turned off at 8 to tune in and watch this rubbish. It really is great mindless t.v. Can’t wait to see who Jillian picks and I’m even more excited to see who the next Bachelor will be next season. My wife and friends laugh at me and make fun of me, but I know that there are other guys out there who watch the show in secret as well. I’m brave enough to come out and admit my addiction lol.
Stay tuned for more soon.
Cheers

That was probably one of the most exciting games that I have played in my life! A special thanks to all the traveling fans who were fantastic during our game as well as the amazing fans that turned up to greet us at the airport. What a buzz it was to arrive home to such a warm welcome. It’s great that our hard work has paid off and that we have won the club and fans it’s first trophy!!! A special shout out to Dero for getting his hat trick against our big rival Montreal!

Looking forward to Wednesday’s game against NY. The boys still have a great buzz on and I’m hoping that it will continue onto the field on Wednesday. We now have to start pushing on for playoffs and get into the group stages of the champions league. Exciting times ahead! STAY RED!

Cheers,

Hi Everyone,
It’s been a couple of busy weeks and I apologize for not writing sooner. A lot of games have been played and it’s always hard to write a blog when we haven’t been seeing the results we want. Houston, Vancouver and LA were hard losses to swallow for us and it really hurt the guys. The game against Vancouver was the hardest as it was a game that we desperately wanted to win. We have Montreal next and there is no doubt in my mind that we can score the 4 goals needed to get through to the next stage.
This Saturday we have our game against NYRB. Unfortunately I won’t be playing because of my ankle injury. I know the boys are ready for this game because they’ve worked extremely hard this week and are ready to get back on track.
I had a nice day today in Newmarket for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario. I had the opportunity to congratulate the runners and represent TFC in memory of Rob Plunkett who passed away on duty. It’s an annual event which I plan on being a part of every year. I’ve also joined up with two fantastic charities which are Spread the net with Belinda Stronach, Dwayne Derosario and Rick Mercer as well as another amazing charity called Kidsport. Kidsport helps to raise money for young Canadian kids who’s parents cannot afford to put them in organized sports. I am looking forward to working with these two charities in the future.
On a sadder note, my team mate and very close buddy Greg Sutton was unfortunately released from TFC this week. He is a class act, one of the original TFC boys and will go down in history as being the first goal keeper for TFC. He will be more than missed by everyone. I wish Sutts all the best in the future as I’m sure that the future holds great happiness for him.
Anyways I’m signing off for now. It’s a big week for us so let’s get some wins!
Cheers,

Well it has been quite eventful the last few weeks. We beat Montreal and Vancouver in the Nutrilite cup (I’m so happy by the way, I hate losing to those two teams) and we had a nice run of results in the last 6 games not including Chicago. Sure you would like to win them all but it does not always happen that way. The boys are up beat and know we can get another run going. The ship is steady and everyone is on the same page. Playoffs and winning the Canadian championship is what we want and we are capable of doing both.

The Toronto weather is picking up and I can’t wait to play one home game without the rain (I’m sure that the fans feel the same!). The only problem is that I have a cast on my hand from the Columbus game when I broke my hand and the heat is doing it no good as my wife and son have to plug their noses around me.

We play New England this weekend and I can’t wait to play them. It’s always a good game against NE and we will be ready for them. We have had a good week so far and are well rested.

Special congrats to Paul Peschisolido who was appointed manager of Burton Albion and the first Canadian to manage a team in Europe!

See you all Saturday!

These past fews weeks have been a bit hectic around the club. A coach has left, and a new one has taken over…….and we are at the top of the east!!!!! It’s unfortunate that J.C.’s time as a coach with TFC had to end. He was a great coach who was passionate and had a great deal of respect for the player’s and people around him. I wish J.C. all the best in whatever opportunities arise for him in the future.

Chris Cummins and Nick Dasovic have taken over now and we are all excited because they are young coaches with fresh ideas, and they are eager to do well. The players have not let any of the stresses around them get to them which is amazing. This is great credit to the player’s and as a reward we are sitting at the top of the eastern conference! Hopefully we maintain our status for the rest of the season.

Columbus Crew are in town tomorrow which is always a good rivalry game. It’s one game that we need to win because our record against them has not been too good. If we get the 3 points in tomorrows game it will set us up nicely going into the game against Vancouver on Wednesday. The whole team will be buzzing.

Stay posted. Speak with you soon.

Game yesterday……..we were obviously a bit disappointed that we didn’t get the three points. But if you take the positives out of yesterday’s game, our performance was ten times better than that of our game against Seattle last week. Just goes to show that we do have a hard working team that will only continue to improve as the season progresses. It was great that Dero got his first goal of the season at home. I’m really happy for him. I felt for Chad as he worked his socks off and deserved the goal, but he was unlucky not to get the goal. Hopefully the weather is gonna warm up a bit because I heard that a few fans had to be chiseled off their seats after the game because they were frozen. Looking forward to another good week of training to get ourselves ready for the game this weekend down in Dallas.
