True Captain's Performance Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive
Saturday's match against Real Salt Lake was a moment when big-time players are expected to stand up and be counted. Brennan answered the call. With the season on the line, Jimmy broke the deadlock in the 47th minute and gave new life to TFC's playoff prayers.
Chad Barrett latched onto an incisive ball out of the back from Emmanuel Gomez, but the striker's effort was parried high into the air by RSL's onrushing keeper Nick Rimando.
Brennan found himself under the looping rebound near the top of the 18. He kept his head and coolly tucked away the winner with a right-footed volley past a scrambling Jamison Olave and a helpless Rimando.
The goal secured 3 vital points for TFC and kept the club in contention for its first-ever postseason appearance.

Toronto FC ready for Montreal
TORONTO -- The Montreal Impact are a walking reminder of what might have been for Toronto FC.
If only the Reds had converted one of several late-game opportunities in a 1-1 draw with the Impact last July 22. If only TFC had done a better job of defending the corner kick that the Impact converted to equalize the game after an early Reds goal. If only TFC had been able to overtake Montreal and win the Nutrilite Canadian Championship, then it might well have been 55,000 fans at Toronto's Rogers Centre in February, rather than at Montreal's Olympic Stadium for the Impact's CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal home tie with Santos Laguna of Mexico.
